Reflecting on the Future
Reflection is central to the creative process. It encourages clarity, nurtures gratitude and informs how one approaches future endeavors. As 2020 drew to a close, we gathered as a studio to reflect not just on the year’s challenges, but on our rewarding work, enduring partnerships and social engagement.
We wanted to transform these thoughts and feelings into something tangible. We wanted to create a gift for our friends, collaborators and clients to show our appreciation for their remarkable work and for joining a community of people who believe in the power of art and design to effect positive social impact.

These themes of solidarity, community and shared values are mirrored in the idea of the flag, and that soon emerged as a poignant symbol of our reflection. For each of our clients, we designed a unique flag that reflects their identity and a core value we share. A minimalist approach often makes for the most powerful symbols. So we kept things simple and used the basic principles of good flag design: flat colors, no text or numbers, no seals or busy designs. We boxed each flag with a short, poetic note as a creative expression of our appreciation.
